Jan Baty, Alexander Technique in Newark, DEJan Baty‘s inspiration for teaching draws from the spontaneity, flexibility, and skilled team work developed over her years performing first in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and then with the Delos String Quartet, at that time, in residence at the University of Delaware.  Her music study includes Eastman, Yale, and the Juilliard School, and her Alexander background includes apprenticing with Marjorie Barstow with further study at the Alexander Alliance in Philadelphia where she then taught for many years.  She teaches in an Alexander intensive in June in Virginia (www.thevillagegreen.net) and offers an Alexander course through the music department at the University of Delaware.

Jan calls her approach Design Guidance, and gives private lessons and small group lessons at her home in Newark, Delaware.
